A over E can be eliminated by looking at an error in option A.

A: The nephew of Pliny the Elder wrote the only eyewitness account of the great eruption of Vesuvius in two letters to the historian Tacitus -> The part in bold is the flaw. According to A, it seems like the eruption was written in two letter, whereas, the eyewitness account was written in two letter.

E gets rid of this error so E is the correct answer.

Thanks.
