Help!!

by rohit9359 » Thu Apr 30, 2009 6:00 pm
Hi Guyz,

Please refer the attchment.

My Take: But i think number of miles of road will affect the rankings since for same number of accidents, cities with longer lenghts roads will be ranked above the cities with shorter lenghts of roads.

Could you please explain why C is correct?

Thanks,
Rohit.

This is an except question hence the answer should NOT provide an objection.

(A) provides objection as the bad conditions of roads could be a reason for more accidents.
(B) provides an objection Bad condition of car rather than bad driving could be the reason of more accidents.
(C) Correct. The deaths are per mile = number of deaths / number of miles. Therefore if a country has more miles of road is inconsequential as deaths are being calcualted on a per mile basis rather than total number of deaths(in which case the length of roads will matter as more miles of road probably means more deaths) and therefore does not provide an objection to waa’s rankings.

here i cannot see only the first 3 answer choices completely.
here b says that some drivers in some countries can afford to maintain cars so it might be the poor condition of the car that is causing the deaths.
similar is the case with the A that there is some other cause for the no of deaths.
but in C it mentions that no. of miles of road in one country is more than no of miles in other country. and in stimuli it has been mentioned that the survey is acc. deaths per miles so the info in C doesn't make any difference in the validity of cause or argument.
hence C.

I would go with option C
