Can some please explain why is She wrong in A, also what is wrong with D, Compared to is a correct idiom and D is plausible choice.

Any comments?

The reason C is the best choice in this sentence is because the usage of "Compared to" is not right. It should be "compared with" to show differences. "Compared to" is used to show similarities.

I like to get some opinions about this.

i read in the latest Manhattan SC guide that GMAT has dropped the conventional usage of "Compared to" (Compare Similarities between dissimilar items) and "Compared With" (Compare dissimilarities between similar items) idioms.
Also, this sentence needs a contrast, the clause beginning with "She was less successful ..." should be a dependent clause on the main clause "photographer Lotte Jacobi ....". Therefore i chose D as well. But in D the comparison is not proper it should have "than".

Experts please comment.
