Do I need more study material???????

by smitathakur64 » Thu Dec 22, 2011 8:59 pm
Hi,

I started my GMAT preparation about 4 weeks ago and am taking the test end of Jan,2012.

I am using OG 12th edition, Kalpan verbal and Kalpan math workbook. Do I need more study material?????? Is there any point in buying the earlier version of OG as well.....I suppose that will give be some more practice questions.Seeing I have short time left, I don't want to be overwhelmed with too many books .....so what do you suggest would be the best option for me.

Thanks

I am also thinking of taking GMAT in mid of Jan. In my view your self assessment of strengths and weeknesses should be the first step.

Their is no point going for earlier editions of OG as questions are more or less same. Its not the quantity but the quality of questions that matters most.So try to go through the explainations of each and every question of OG 12 and other material u already have. For SC, Manhattan sentence correction would be an ideal choice.

Best of luck!!

I recommend additional books when students have run out of either

1) new practice questions
2) full-length practice tests

There is a lot of overlap between editions of most published GMAT prep materials, OG included. OG12 is the most up-to-date (though even that is 2009). There is significant (but not complete) overlap between OG11 and OG12; had you been going in the other direction (11 > 12) I'd have suggested getting the newer one for the more recent information and the new questions, but going back to OG11 makes less sense.
