Going through MGMAT's Number Properties and getting into chapter Nine which is practice problems out of the 12 OG, is it better to start out with problem solving or data sufficiency, or both?

I realized it's been ten years since Algebra 1 in high school coupled with the degree and foreignness of Data Suff. have given me much aggravation. I'm wondering if problem solving might be a better aid in re-jogging those brain receptors? I know their there, just covered in a lot of muck!

Thoughts?

Hi,

Its always better to start with PS. This would help you get yourself comfortable with the numbers. DS questions can be very tricky at times. And a sound understanding of the concepts is required for DS.

Yes this helps very much. Comparatively speaking my hit rate yesterday on OG 12 Problem Solve was around 60-75% while DS was very low, maybe 30%.

I appreciate your input. I'm going to stick with PS first to get the concepts down.

Actually starting off with DS might not be a bad idea. Tackling DS problems requires more sound knowledge of the subject and would therefore help in terms of garnering more knowledge with each problem you solve e.g. triangle properties, speed time etc.

But, the argument can be made both ways
