Need help to polish my skill in verbal

by vaflaly » Tue Jan 18, 2011 5:17 pm
I am a freshman in GMAT world and I have just taken a reference' test (TEST2 GMAT PREP) and my result is 590 (Quant 49 / Verbal 23).
Obviously my verbal is not good although I got a 90 in TOEFL. I try to apply the same tips I used in toefl but that 's not working.
please I need your help and tips on how to tackle the verbal prep.

PS: I subscribe already to MGMAT $239' package. is there any more good book I should get??

Your Quant score is solid and if you're able to take your Verbal score up by another 12-14 months, you'll be past the 700 mark.Though I think raising score on the Verbal section by 12-14 points is easier said than done. You'll have to be very diligent and may wanna make sure that you adopt the right strategy from the beginning so as to prepare the right way. If you go through my debrief, you'll see I have talked about the importance of analyzing questions properly. Make sure that you understand the concepts in-depth especially in Sentence Correction and you don't get smug seeing a good accuracy on the Official Guides.

People might disagree with me but try doing a couple of LSAT sample exams.

thank to you @eternal_optimist

Actually, I plan to take my gmat test in 4 months. I read your story and that's very insteresting but at the same time, I wonder if I could achieve my goal....Please do you have any strategies in verbal???
In practice during RC, it is hard to take notes and after reading a passage for the first time, i need to come back to it for answering question.
Concerning CR, I usually understand the passage, but giving a good answer is a big difficulty.
