D'oh. 1 Week of preparation after a depressing 530 (Q49, V23) on GMATPrep CAT1 - I got 610 (Q45, V31) on Manhattan GMAT Free CAT.
The test i took was Manhattan GMAT Free Sample Test. I need reviews on this exams, if anyone else has taken it.

My frank opinion was that the Math section was way too tough. I had to guess the last 8-10 questions.
Verbal was fine. I did some mistakes - across CR/SC/RC - but almost half of the mistakes i could review and figure why they went wrong. The other half was all rocket science for me.

If you can see my score break up - There has been a considerable improvement in Verbal, but a downfall in Quant. How good does Manhattan Free CAT measures in comparison to GMATPrep. I know both are different tests and both are calculated differently. So need reviews so as to evaluate my performance and improvements (if any.

Many Thanks.

Manhattan CATs are quite good and you can count on its quant score. But verbal scores will be inflated, to be frank none of the test prep company mocks are as close as GMAT Prep in evaluating your verbal score. But other test prep mocks can help you narrow down to your weak areas. Within one week its quite difficult to make considerable improvement in verbal. You might be at the same level or some 2 or 3 points progress. Verbal improvement takes lot of time compared to quant. Work on OG problems, review each problem effectively. Approaching verbal is different from quant. You should be able to know why each of the wrong answers are wrong for verbal questions and you should also use elimination technique to arrive at the right answer instead of choosing a right one. Check your GMAT Prep CAT1 again and see if you can arrive at a weak area and work on it. Hope this helps !!

Thanks sam2304. I am guessing you are born on 23rd of June. :)
Much appreciate your feedback and i kinda second your comments. It would not be so easy to gain 8 points on verbal in just a week.
I am going about giving GMAT CATs every weekend and analyze my mistakes on each of them. Maybe later do some homework on these areas. I have signed up for Master GMAT free simulation test for this weekend.
Any comments on how good of a gauge it is ? Rate it in comparison to GMATPrep Software.

Don't take a mock unless you see yourself having made some considerable improvement after your last mock. The point is don't waste the mocks. I haven't used Master GMAT so I cannot comment anything about it. But if you are talking in terms of comparison with GMAT Prep then none will come as close to it. Even experts agree on that. Intermittently take up GMAT Prep mock so that you will know whether you are on track or not. Don't rely too much on other test prep mocks for evaluation. Don't save GMAT Prep for last minute preparation. You can take each test twice atleast to know where you stand considering a +/- 30 to 50 points deviation and after that the scores will be inflated.
