2 motorcyclists are travelling at a speed of 3 km/hr and 10 km/hr around a circular track. What should be the ratio of number of distinct points that they would meet on that track if they travel in the same direction first and in the opposite direction next?

A) 7 : 13
B) 3 : 10
C) 3 : 7
D) 30 : 13
E) None

No of distinct points? doesn't it depend on the radius of the track?

Yeah ajith think of circular track in the form of a line ..so no. of distinct point s mean to say ...how many times they meet ..along that line you can say...not the distinct point on the ground ....

If they keep on traveling, in both cases they meet infinite times, so you are asking us to calculate infinity divided by infinity?

Well the OA is
" If they travel in the same direction they will met at 10 - 3 = 7 distinct points.
If they travel in opposite direction they will meet at 10 + 3 = 13 distinct points.
Hence the ratio = 7 : 13"
I am not exactly getting what the solution is trying to say....

Ajit I think u can anlayse it better...

Shashank, i think you need to elaborate the solution little better....

Also, somehow, it seems to me that question is little obscure.....I can interpret it that its saying each motorcyclist would go one round in one direction and then second round in opposite direction...so 2 rounds by each one..... BUT, I can also argue that its not clear from the question, if its asking for 2 rounds or more than that.... just by saying " they travel in the same direction first and in the opposite direction next..", it doesn't clearly mean travel in same direction 1 round only....

Anyway, even taking it as 2 round trip for each, can you explain why this 10-3 and 10+3...?

Even I didn't got the ans..thats why I have given u the original answer...I though I m not exactly getting the question
