GMAT Focus...

I purchased one sample test from mba.com and found it to be very difficult compared to OG. Out of 24 questions, 20% of them were probability / combo and most of the rest were very challenging except for the first question which was simple.

I got a 50% of the questions right giving me a range of 39-47 compared to 48Q and 44Q for MGMAT. Anyone have similar experiences?

I found a comment from an instructor on another forum that stated "the question bank may not be 100% representative of the actual GMAT question pool"

Do others feel this way about the GMAT Focus questions? They definitely do seem different then GMAT Prep Test questions. There was way more probability and counting questions then I expected.

Has anyone taken the GMAT recently (since GMAT Focus was introduced) that can verify as to how representative GMAT Focus vs GMAT Prep questions are?

I took the GMAT Focus and found the 3rd test real tough. Just couldn't make out much of the Qs. 1st test , i scored really bad. But, 2nd one was easy. and 3rd tough. I think depending on ur score from your previous test the difficulty level moves up or down in the next test.

What test did you buy ? MBA.com has just free prep software, can you please share the link?

yeah I had the exact same problem, there was way too many probability and counting problems, even though they say GMAT doesn't focus on those too much. It was a little tougher than the GMAT prep, prob cause it's been a while since I did any probability problems, but they're not very hard if you expect such questions.

I have no idea to what this is attributed since they are supposed to be actual GMAT questions. My only guess is that maybe they changed the pool to include more counting / probability questions, to test a new type of test - maybe they are looking to modify the GMAT quant section a bit. I am not sure. Anyway, I would just rely on OG for the practice, since everyone who took it said that the GMAT was very similar in type to OG.
