IF clause, THEN clause

by mbrown10012 » Sun Aug 08, 2010 10:42 am
Are these past perfect sentences correct when embedded with the IF and THEN clause?

So whenever we have past perfect sentences, we would use the verb HAD no matter if its singular or plural.

1)If she HAD won the tournament, she WOULD HAVE GIVEN the prize to her school.

2)If JOHN and I HAD won the tournament, we WOULD HAVE GIVEN the prize to our school.

What about PRESENT TENSE with the IF and THEN clause?

1)If the dog RUNS to the park, he WILL play with his friends.

2) If the dog, in addition to John RUNS to the park, they WILL play with their friends. (The subject the dog)

3) If the dog and John RUN to the park, they WILL play with their friends. (the subject is the dog and John)

Are these sentences correct with subject verb agreement along with the IF and THEN clauses?

1) If the dog RUNS to the park, he WILL play with his friends. -> I think it will be better here...

2) If the dog, in addition to John RUNS to the park, they WILL play with their friends. (The subject the dog) -> They is wrong..it should be used..subject is dog...

Rest of the sentences are fine..

IMO THEN is missed in all the statements , pronoun of dog = IT, pronoun of dog and John = THEY

1)If she HAD won the tournament, she WOULD HAVE GIVEN the prize to her school.
If she HAD won the tournament, THEN she WOULD HAVE GIVEN the prize to her school.

2)If JOHN and I HAD won the tournament, we WOULD HAVE GIVEN the prize to our school.
If JOHN and I HAD won the tournament, THEN we WOULD HAVE GIVEN the prize to our school.

3)If the dog RUNS to the park, he WILL play with his friends.
If the dog RUNS to the park, THEN it WILL play with its friends

4) If the dog, in addition to John RUNS to the park, they WILL play with their friends.
If the dog, in addition to John Runs to the park, THEN It WILL play with its friends

5) If the dog and John RUN to the park, they WILL play with their friends.
If the dog and John RUN to the park, THEN they WILL play with their friends

Please correct me if you find any error
