Well I don't yet have a clear picture of all your work experience, but one thing to keep in mind is that it is possible to count your PhD towards work experience. But even with that, they still expect yo to have some "real" work experience.

My feeling is you are no longer a young gun, but how old exactly?

And in order to figure out where you should go, we need to know your goals first of all, and second, the GMAT will play a mighty big role. So you can't really figure out where you should apply to reasonably without a GMAT (although you CAN do some initial research based on your goals)

Yeah sorry it took me so long to get back to you with the holidays and all.

So my thoughts: If you are on the way to goodness and don't really need an MBA to land a good job, then as you mentioned, only do one that will give you a significant career boost. Basically, there's no reason for you to compromise, because if you don't get into an awesome program then you just continue with your career and you're still happy.

In that case apply to the Top schools which have good connects with the Pharma industry - Wharton, Kellogg, Duke, Ross (not that Stanford or HBS would be bad either )

Do you NEED this MBA after all your experience? Hmmmm maybe for certain positions... but I'll leave that up to you.
