Hi Jopup,
My approach was to list the sales records in ascending (or descending order), for clarity's sake.
E - 680k
A - 450k - x
B - 360k
D - 210k
C - 190k + x
Where x = incorrectly accounted sales
Above, median is 360k. The NEW median of 330k means that either Ann or Cal's corrected record will equal 330k. (Only Ann's or Cal's record can be modified, especially since the set is an odd-numbered set)
If Ann(after) = 330k, that means corrected amount, x, is
x = 450k - 330k = 120k
Thus, Cal(after) = 190k + 120k = 310k
Since Ann(after) > Cal(after), x = 120,000, which is D.
______________________________
NOTE: Highly possible that someone selects Cal to represent the new median: Cal(after) = 330k
However, after working this all out, you will find that Ann(after) = 310k, which does not satisfy Ann(after) > Cal(after)
