Last week prep advice needed

by tsharma » Sat Jul 07, 2012 9:34 am
I have been preparing for quite some time now. But timing in Verbal has been a big issue for me throughout my prep. I've scored a maximum of 670 in my prep exams. I still have GMATPrep 1&2 and 1 MGMAT left to solve in the last week. I've noticed one thing during my prep exam. By the time I'm left with 25mins in the verbal section, I've usually solved 23 questions. After this i'm pretty much guessing on most of the problems due to time pressure. Focus tends to be more on the clock than on the question. There has never been a case when I have had the time to read and solve the last RC passage.

I feel like just taking the GMATPrep because I don't want to burn out myself before the actual exam. But at the same time it might not be a bad idea to take another MGMAT exam and practice timing once more. And yea also need to make sure I revise my concepts.

Any advice??????????

One week is not enough to do all these things. At present you should focus on doing simulation tests and improve your timing. A good strategy to avoid looking nervously at your watch every two minutes is two check the time roughly every 10 minutes. In the Verbal Section you have a little less time than 2 minutes per question so in 10 min you should have covered 5 questions. Some questions will take you less than 20 seconds and some like RC will take longer. If you work in 10-minute intervals it will be much easier to monitor your overall timing.

Also remember not to do anything GMAT-related on the last day before the exam.
