Need advice on Second MBA and my profile

Hi Stacy


I am from India and have a first MBA from the IIMs- a top Indian business school.
I however want to go through the experience of international business education and get an understanding of international business. I am looking for an international career and dont want to be limited to serving domestic clients. I am thinking about a second MBA from the US.

I am currently working with a consulting firm. (Total 3 years experience)
My undergrad is in engineering- Top 10% in class

I was confused whether going for a second MBA is the right option or not?
Post second MBA, I would like to stay in consulting but work with international clients and in international location rather than be limited to Indian clients ( which Currently is the case)

I have taken the GMAT and got 710.

Do you think it makes sense for me to go for
a. Second MBA from US?
B. If so, is an accelerated MBA at Columbia or Kellogg a good option (considering that there is no summer internship and I am an international student?)

Would be grateful for your advice.

I am not convinced that a second MBA is the right move for you. An MBA in the US will expose you to an international class, and to new ideas with regards to doing business internationally. However, it is still a management education and the curriculum could be largely repetitive for you. Perhaps you can navigate a career transition on your own or pursue a second degree in another international subject area.

If you did pursue a second MBA, I feel you would be a very good fit for the Kellogg 4Q program, perhaps not as much for the Columbia program. As long as you are not looking for a complete career change, you woudl still benefit from Kellogg's accelerated program and could utilize the career center for a full time job. Columbia looks to individuals who are going into a family business, are entrepreneurs, etc... for their January program. You do not seem to fall into these categories.

When you say "other international programmes", any specific suggestions?

Regarding the Kellogg program, any idea if having a prior MBA will have a negative impact on the application?
