IMO D.

1) x/lxl < x
x < x*lxl
1 < lxl. hence sufficient.

2) lxl > x
only possible if x<0. hence sufficient.

x < x*lxl

if x is positive, lxl > 1

if x is negative, lxl < 1, since x is negative 0 > x > -1


Insufficient.

Statement II
|x| > x

this simply implies that x is negative, therefore, lxl can be greater 1 or lxl can be less than 1

Insufficient.

Combining I & II
|x| > x
x< x*lxl

this means 0 > x > -1, therefore, lxl will always be less than 1.

Sufficient.

Hence C.

C for me as well.
Important point is to consider x as real number not as an integer.
