Answer is B.

Just solve the equation.. then the question boils down to

is 1 < (a+b)?

And this question can't be answered by 1) but can be answer by 2) alone.

Thanks,
Calista. (I am overlooking a typo in the question).

(a-^1 + b^-1)^-1 less than (a^-1*b^-1)^-1?

==> (1/a+1/b)^-1 , (1/ab)^-1
=> ab/(a+b) , ab

(1). a = 2b

=> is 2(b^2)/3b < 2 (b ^2)
-- is 1/3b < 1 ?

I guess Yes because a and b are +ve. .. so SUFF

(2) is SUFF is well

It looks the ans is D ?
------------

(update)

I see now, b can be say 0.1, in that case the answer is different. so 1 is NOT SUFF
