To find the co-ords of point Q

by gmattesttaker2 » Sat Mar 15, 2014 6:53 pm
Hello,

Can you please assist with this:

What are the (x, y) coordinates of point Q if point Q is equidistant from the four
vertices of square ABCD and the (x, y) coordinates of A, B, and D are,
respectively, (2, 1), (2, 4), and (5, 1)?

(A) (2.5, 2)
(B) (2.5, 2.5)
(C) (3.5, 2.5)
(D) (4, 4)
(E) (5, 4)

OA: C

Length of AD = 3 and Length of DC = 3.
Length of diagonal AC = 3 sq.root (2)

However, I was not sure how to proceed from here. Can you please assist?

Thanks,
Sri

I think you might be over-thinking it a bit. Once you have the square coordinates -- Q is simply the middle of the square.

What's the 'middle' of the range between 2 and 5 -- 3.5.
What's the 'middle' of the range between 1 and 4 -- 2.5.

3.5, 2.5.

Done.

Right?
