IMO- A is the correct answer because it respects the rule of parallelism

B- lowering of is wordy
C- has problems with meaning (along with fears- the lowering modifier is missing here)
D- being + not parallel
E- the GMAT frowns at 'being lowered'

Hi,
The things in parallel are lowering of.., a rally of.., a weakening of..
And the lowering of two things can be mentioned just like a rally of things is mentioned. So, this usage is fine

Hence, B
Cheers!

Things are not what they appear to be... nor are they otherwise

Hi, you've misunderstood the parallelism.

eg: I like eating apples AND pears, watching Tvs, AND playing basketball. The first AND connects appleas and pears (a small //), the second AND is "big //" .

This sentence apparantly require parallelism.

B: Correct. A lowering parallels with A rally and a weakening. The other choices do not agree in //.

(A) lowering interest rates, as well as lowering fears
about inflation, -->incorrect as interferes with structure of sentence which follows...'a rally IN in stock....'
(B) a lowering of interest rates and of fears about
inflation, --> correct..the and used in interest rate and fears caters to inflation, hence, is perfect
(C) a lowering of interest rates, along with fears
about inflation, --> comes close, but incorrect as it sounds un-wordy.
(D) interest rates being lowered, along with fears
about inflation, --> clearly violation of //ism..hence, incorrect
(E) interest rates and fears about inflation being
lowered, with -->incorrect

Appreciation in thanks please!!

a lowering of ..a rally in ...are complex gerund in parallel.
Hence B is correct.
Simple gerund lowering ..is not in parallel with a rally in.
