E (assumption that x and y are integers)
Area=1/2 * x*y

Area is an integer if x is divisible by 2 or y is divisible by 2 or both.
a)If x is prime integer(y can be odd or even),info is not sufficient because if x is any prime integer other than 2,then area can be either integer or non integer
b)If y is odd integer(x can be odd or even),then area can be either integer(if x is even) or
non integer(if x is odd)

If a and b are both true,then area is integer only if x is 2.
Since no further information is provided,only E is correct.

If x = 2, then neither of the options is for sure.
