A recent survey showed that 50 percent of people polled believe that elected officials should resign if indicted for a crime, whereas 35 percent believe that elected officials should resign only if they are convicted of a crime. Therefore, more people believe that elected officials should resign if indicted than believe that they should resign if convicted.

The reasoning above is flawed because it
(A) draws a conclusion about the population in general based only on a sample of that population
(B) confuses a sufficient condition with a required condition
(C) is based on an ambiguity of one of its terms
(D) draws a conclusion about a specific belief based on responses to queries about two different specific beliefs
(E) contains premises that cannot all be true

Option A - INCORRECT.
This reasoning is almost flawed because, it draws a conclusion about the population in general based only on a sample of that population. Even though the sample population is meant to represent the total number of people in that locality but still conclusion shouldn't be made base on that sample.

Option B - CORRECT.
This option is most flawed because, it confuses a sufficient condition with a required condition. It is the requirement of the citizens been govern by the politicians that they don't want political criminals to govern them. Therefore, if this is the wish of the people it should be done their way but only if the highest population has come to a conclusion that corrupt politicians should resign immediately if convicted of a crime rather than asking them to resign only when indicated for a crime which has not being judged in the court of law.

Option C - INCORRECT.
This option right with its claim. It is based on an ambiguity of one of its terms which is not meant to be because the decision of the highest population sample is wrong.

Option D - INCORRECT.
The argument has drawn a conclusion about a specific belief based on responses to queries about two different specific beliefs which is not meant to be so. Rules and Regulation should be followed when making decision about peoples action especially the politicians, if not the ones that are meant to fight for the people will be convicted for a crime that they didn't commit.

Option E- INCORRECT.
The reasoning contains premises that cannot all be true, forcing people to resign for a crime they've been vindicated for instead of convicted for is wrong.
