An automobile parts supplier charges \(\$25\) per package of gaskets. When a customer orders more than \(10\) packages of gaskets, the supplier charges \(\dfrac45\) the price for each package in excess of \(10.\) During a certain week, the supplier sold \(60\) packages of gaskets. If \(20\) percent of the gaskets went to Company \(X,\) \(15\) percent to Company \(Y,\) and the rest to Company \(Z,\) what was the total amount, in dollars, that the parts supplier received in payment for the gaskets?

A. 1305
B. 1345
C. 1375
D. 1415
E. 1455

No. of products to \(X = 20\%\) of \(60 =12\)
No. of products to \(Y = 15\%\) of \(60 = 9\)
No. of products to \(Z = 39\)

Dollars form \(X = 10\cdot25 + 2\cdot \dfrac{4}{5}\cdot 25 = 290\)
Dollars from \(Y = 9 \cdot 25= 225\)
Dollars from \(Z = 10\cdot 25+29\cdot \dfrac{4}{5}\cdot 25 = 830\)

Total dollars \(= 290+225+830=1345\)

Therefore, B

Answer: B

Solution:

We see that Company X received 60 x 0.2 = 12 packages of gaskets, Company Y 60 x 0.15 = 9 packages, and Company Z 60 - 12 - 9 = 39 packages. Since both companies X and Z ordered more than 10 packages, each package in excess of 10 was charged 25 x 4/5 = $20. Therefore, the total amount of money the supplier received from the three companies is:

(25 x 10 + 20 x 2) + (25 x 9) + (25 x 10 + 20 x 29)

290 + 225 + 830 = $1345
