Plz explain
A female worker can do a job in 12 hours & Male member can do the same job in 6 hours. if equal numbers of male & female member were deployed to do that job & the team completed the job in 2 hours. how many male worker were employed?

Hi Noman,

This question is a variation on a Work Formula question, and can be solved in a couple of different ways.

Since a female can complete a job in 12 hours, then she can complete 1/12 of the job per hour.
Since a male can complete a job in 6 hours, then he can complete 1/6 of the job per hour.

With one female and one male, 1/12 + 1/6 = 1/12 + 2/12 = 3/12 = 1/4 of the job is completed per hour. This means that it takes 4 hours to do the job under these conditions.

We're told that a job is completed in 2 hours, which is exactly HALF the time it takes for 1 female and 1 male to complete the job. To cut the time in HALF, we need to DOUBLE the number of workers: 2 females and 2 males. The question asks how many MALES were employed.

Final Answer: B

Please note that this is NOT a real GMAT question, nor is it particularly GMAT-like. It is riddled with grammatical errors, and displays an obnoxious sexism that the GMAT certainly would not.

It is a bad idea to study from sources that are not even written in grammatically correct English.
