Volume of a cube = e³.
Surface area of a cube = 6e².
AAPL wrote:A welder received an order to make a 1 million liter cube-shaped tank. If it has only 4x2 meter sheets of metal that can be cut, how many metal sheets will be required for this order? (1 cubic meter = 1,000 liters)
A. 92
B. 90
C. 82
D. 78
E. 75
Convert liters to cubic meters:
(1,000,000 liters) * (1 cubic meter)/(1,000 liters) = 1,000 cubic meters.
Since the volume of the cube = 1,000 cubic meters, we get:
e³ = 1,000 cubic meters
e = 10 meters.
To determine the required number of metal sheets, we must calculate the surface area of the cube:
Surface area = 6e² = 6*10² = 600 square meters.
Area of each 4x2 metal sheet = 4*2 = 8 square meters.
Required number of metal sheets = (surface area of the cube)/(area of each metal sheet) = 600/8 = 75.
The correct answer is
E.
