(C) Although he is as gifted as, if not more gifted than, many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and will not publish his poetry.
(D) Despite his being gifted, if not more gifted than his colleagues, he is extremely modest and will not publish his poetry.
(E) Being a gifted as, or more gifted than, many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and his poetry is unpublished.

I will pick "A"
"B" --> in correct idiom usage
"D" and "E" use of being and also sentence construction is awkward.
"C" two part of "and" conjunctions are not parallel.

Interesting question

IMO answer should be C.

Firstly, the correct idioms are as long as and more than.
B & E violate these idioms.

D you don't need 'being'

A & C.

What the sentence is trying to say is that although he is gifted, he has not published his poems. You are trying to show a contrast here.

C shows the contrast better than A.

Cool - got it!

Possessive pronoun 'his' needs a possessive noun (example ''scooby's'') to refer back to.

'he' and 'his' are not parallel constructions.

Shoot! totally missed that!!

OA - C
