here are two sentences...are they correct..as per Gmat grammar??

2. Heating of 1 degree Celsius would have a smaller impact on metabolism for a cold-blooded, land-dwelling species that lives in the Arctic than on one that lives in the tropics,
..... these sentences are from reputed source. so, i doubt.. i may be wrong. so, to be confirm..i posted them here.
my doubt-
1. isn't it should be such as.(not like)..??
2 is here use of .....species that lives.... correct.??
if #2 is written as-
