The on-air fundraiser enabled the station,which was praised for its brevity,to continue broadcasting in the indefinite future

A.The on-air fundraiser enabled the station,which was praised for its brevity,to continue broadcasting into the indefinite future
B.The on-air fundraiser,which was praised for its brevity, enabled the station to be broadcasting into the indefinite future
C.The on-air fundraiser enabled the station,which was praised for its brevity,to continue future broadcasting
D.The on-air fundraiser ,which was praised for its brevity,enabled the station to continue broadcasting into the indefinite future
E.The on-air fundraiser enabled the station,which was praised for its brevity,to continue broadcasting into the future which was indefinite

OA:D
Question is how would one know whether the radio station or the fundraiser was praised for it's brevity?

It's tough, but since the sentence says the station will be broadcasting into the indefinite future, I'd say you'd have a hard time describing that as brief.

Question is how would one know whether the radio station or the fundraiser was praised for it's brevity?
i chose C so if its D, i dont understand, can you please explain me?

We have two ideas occurring in the sentence: "praised for its brevity" and "continue broadcasting into the indefinite future." Again, if something is continuing indefinitely, then it can't really be described as brief. From this, we can say that those two ideas must describe different things. It's the station that's doing the broadcasting, so it must be the fundraiser that was praised for its brevity.

Well in that case isn't it that this SC question is testing more than just grammar.I surely did not know the meaning of brevity.

As Bill pointed out that brevity means to be brief and the station cannot be brief and indefinite at the same time. so the phrase cannot modify station, it has to modify the on-air fundraiser.

When I saw the question ; I checked the online dictionary for exact meaning of brevity. Brevity mean "concise and short duration". So it is obviously applicable to on-air fundraiser program than the radio station.

So we are left with B and D.B has a problem with sentence "enabled the station to be broadcasting".

So choice was D.
