Most nations regard their airspace as extending upward as high as an aircraft can fly; no specific altitude, however, has been officially recognized as a boundary.


(A) as extending

(B) as the extent

(C) to be an extent

(D) to be an extension

(E) to extend


Answers with explanations please.

I would go with A. But then again, "ing" usually gives me a feeling that I'm picking the wrong answer.

I think if I wanna use "to" instead of "as", I would need "be" after it.

So I should see an answer like:

"to be extending"


Since such answer doesn't exist, and "B" is clearly wrong. "A" seems to be the correct answer.

regard airspace as the extent upward changes meaning or rather gives out an awkward meaning. We dont regard airspace as the extent upward and in the sentence above we are trying to say its extending.

extending <> the extent
