In 2003 Acme Computer priced its computers five times higher than its printers. What is the ratio of its gross revenue for computers and printers respectively in the year 2003?

(1) In the first half of 2003 it sold computers and printers in the ratio of 3:2, respectively, and in the second half in the ratio of 2:1.

(2) It sold each computer for $1000.

How can i determine the correct statement in this problem?

Hi lheiannie07,

You cannot compute gross profit. Since the number of computers and that of printers are not given, we cannot get sales revenue, thus the gross profit. Mere ratio value won't help. The correct answer is E.

A ratio 3 : 2 could actually be 30 : 20 or 300 : 200 or anything. We do not have any information what exactly the real values are.

The correct answer: E

Hope this helps!
