it was a source of meat, and its hide was used for clothing, its antlers and bones for tools, and its sinews and gut
'and' is perfectly placed. Two usage are listed 1. as a source of meat 2. use of different body parts
Usage1 (x) and Usage2 (a,b and c)
all x,a,b and c are perfectly parallel.
Correctly specified in option A

Hey guys, m a bit confused with the structure of this sentence:
For Op A
it was a source of meat, and its hide was used for clothing, its antlers and bones for tools, and its sinews and gut for bindings and glue.
The two parts in green are clauses and the other 2 parts in blue appear to me phrases as they have no verb. ---> M i correct here..???
OR all the parts are clause and the elaborated structure is like this:
it was a source of meat, and its hide was used for clothing, its antlers and bones [was used] for tools, and its sinews and gut [was used] for bindings and glue.
Here all parts are clauses as u can see...now if this part is correct, then notice the third clause, where WAS USED is attached to plural "antlers and bones", is this acceptable ?????
If the above is not the case, and the last two parts are not clauses but modifiers, then, the 2 modifiers coming back to back after 2 clauses looks somewhere awkward to me...i know this question is from GMAT paper test so i can't question the validity of the answer, i'm missing something that i want to clear.
Thanks

My interpretation,it was a source of meat, and its hide was used for clothing, its antlers and bones for tools, and its sinews and gut for bindings and glue.
Considering the ':' used after the word deer.
it was a source of meat ----> IC1 ____________|
,and ----> IC connector____| Item 1 in list.
its hide was used for clothing, ----> IC 2____________|
its antlers and bones for tools ----> item 2 in list
,and ----> signifies the next item to be last one in list
its sinews and gut for bindings and glue ----> last item in list
Since the post not displayed properly, structure as follows,
: item1, item2, and item 3.
item 1 inturn has two ICs connected by COMMA + AND.
Ron, could you please review this as well and comment.
Regards,
Pranay
