At an elementary school, 35 percent of the students have their birthdays during the summer, while 23 percent have their birthdays in the fall. If 12 percent, or 60 students, have their birthdays in the spring, how many of the students have their birthdays during the winter?

A. 18

B. 30

C. 150

D. 180

Percentage of students who have their b'day in summer, fall, or spring = 35 + 23 + 12 = 70; thus, Percentage of students who have their b'day in winter = 100 – 70 = 30%

Since 12% = 60 (= 12*5) students (given), 30% = 30*5 = 150 students.

The correct answer: C
