The chart above shows the number of weeks of vacation taken annually by those in the workforce. There are 200 million people in the workforce, of whom 46% are female. If 20% of male workers take 1 week of vacation, how many female workers take 1 week of vacation?

A. 4.6 million
B. 10.8 million
C. 14.2 million
D. 21.6 million
E. 28.4 million

The OA is E

Given that there are 200 million people in the workforce, of whom 46% are female. If 20% of male workers take 1 week of vacation, number of male vacationers = (100 - 46)% of 200 = 54% of 200 millions = 108 millions male

Number of vacationers who took 1-week leave = 25% of 200 M = 50 millions

Thus, the number of FEMALE vacationers who took 1-week leave = 50 M - 20% of 108 M = 28.4 M

The correct answer: E

The OA is E

We see there are 200 x 0.25 = 50 million workers who take a 1-week vacation. Of these 50 million workers, 200 x 0.54 x 0.2 = 21.6 million are male; therefore, there are 50 - 21.6 = 28.4 million female workers who take a 1-week vacation.

Answer: E
