Each team: 2 pitchers for every 3 fielders. Each team has a total of 25 players.
So, ON EACH TEAM there are 10 pitchers and 15 fielders

There are 12 teams in the league.
So, the TOTAL number of pitchers = 12(10) = 120
And the TOTAL number of fielders = 12(15) = 180

The number of pitchers in the league is how much less than the number of fielders in the league?
180 - 120 = 60

Solution:

The ratio of pitchers to fielders = 2x : 3x. Since each team has 25 players:

2x + 3x = 25

5x = 25

x = 5

Each team has 10 pitchers and 15 fielders. Thus, the number of pitchers in the league is 10 x 12 = 120, and the number of fielders in the league is 15 x 12 = 180.

Thus, there are 180 - 120 = 60 fewer pitchers than fielders.
