Seven years ago, Scott was 3 times as old as Kathy was at that time. If Scott is now 5 years older than Kathy, how old, in years, is Scott now?

(A) 12.5
(B) 13
(C) 13.5
(D) 14
(E) 14.5

Let Scott's Age be S now And Kathy's Age be K

Now according to question:

S = K +5 and S-7 = 3(K-7)

=> S = 14.5

Answer is D
