Cyclepaths

by pandeyvineet24 » Sun Oct 25, 2009 1:00 pm
The Cyclepaths Bicycle Factory has 300 bicycles in stock. The bicycles are either blue or red, and they come in two sizes: large and small. If 175 of the bicycles are blue, and 140 are large, how many are both blue and large?

(1) There 90 small red bicycles.

(2) There are twice as many small blue bicycles as there are large red bicycles.

D the correct answer here ?

This is a good question, so thought of sharing with the forum. I did not get it correct the first time. The question is from magoosh.com and they have some good GMAT like Quant questions.

Yes, this can be answered by constructing a table within a minute. The correct answer is D.
Large Small Total
Blue ?=140-35=105 175(given)

Red 125-90=35 90(1) 300-175=125

Total 140(given) 300
Thus A is sufficient. Similarily B is also sufficient
