If y is an integer, is it an odd number?

(1) y^3 ≥ 0.

(2) y is either an odd number or a negative number.

1) y^3 ≥0, therefore y can be either +ve integer or zero;Not sufficient to answer the question.

2)y is either odd or negative.. also not sufficient..!!

combining 1 and 2 as we know y^3≥0, therefore y cannot be negative therefore possible value of y is either 0 or +positive number, but as per 2 y is either odd or negative, hence y cannot be zero, therefore only possible values of y are +ve odd numbers hence C
