Sentence starts with "Although" that means there is a contrast between 1st clause(before comma) and second clause (After comma)
Option B says---> "demand will be stimulated by increasing supply and lowering prices", which does not show clear relation to the cause (improved efficiency) in 1st clause.

Option A clearly establishes that contrast between 1st clause and 2nd clause, by saying that "it (improved efficiency) will stimulate the demand by..."

Therefore I will Go with A.

I would go with A because who will increase the demand?????? and for this we need a subject and in A "it" is acting as that subject........

Hey guys, i posted this question 2 months back and now i don't remember from where i pick this Q, but on internet everywhere the ans given is Op B, while all the experts believe that the answer has to be Op A...and i also agree with them....

Moreover can someone suggest, is the use of WHICH in Op B is correct or not???

I think, in op B, which refers to...."increasing supply and lowering prices"....so what should we think....that which is referring to a compound subject and hence taking the plural verb "boost"....???? please place your opinion...thanks

'which' in B can refer to either "increasing supply and lowering prices" or "lowering prices", both being plural subjects and it is in passive voice too. So, A definitely seems better.

B can be eliminated for another reason.

The sentence follows Although X,Y structure where X and Y should be parallel.

so, since X begins with improved efficiency, Y must also begin with someting similar which can be obtained by using pronoun 'it' or synonym for improved efficiency.

Thus this structure is supported by only three options, A, C and D.

B is automatically eliminated.

However, I was stuck between A and C as I was confused with the antecedent of which in option C.

IMO, antecedent of which in C appears to be ' increasing supply and lowering prices' and not only 'lowering prices' because both of them are parallel.

The place where I was stuck was,

whether to consider 'increasing supply and lowering prices' as a clause, which would require singular boosts, or to treat them as plural which requires plural boost due to conjuction coordinator AND.

I think it has to treated as a clause and thus the given option as it is appears fine.
