gmatbeater,

i tend to use my ear quite effectively on these SC questions so that's the method i used to eliminate the other choices; they just didn't sound gramatically correct to me.

reachac,

now that i read the question and answer choices with a fresh mind, i agree with you that A should be the correct answer.
