Congrats and all the best. If you can tell me how many hours you were putting in and how many questions were attempting or solving .. would be helpful for me. lot of times i would have spent lot of time but would have solved less questions

Congrats for the amazing score! Just wanted to check one thing real quick. How did the sentence correction feel on the real GMAT test? Were the questions more focused on meaning than on grammatical issues? Did you see any questions on Idioms as well?
CONGO !

The syllabus for both the exams is almost the same but the type of questions that you will see will be different. For example CAT maths questions expect you to know the concept indepth while on the GMAT you are expect to think more. On the CAT even if you get a handful of questions correct, you are on your path to glory but on the GMAT you have to attempt each question and that requires more time management and strategyNitin Reddy wrote:Congrats on your score!
I need some guidance. I plan to take GMAT in the month of September, I haven't started preparing for it yet. Currently, preparing for CAT but I want to take GMAT as well this year.
Any suggestion on how I should go about it? I'll complete 36 months of work experience by December this year.
Appreciate your inputs here.

Yes there were questions with idiomatic errors but there were other errors also in that question. In 700+ level questions, the sentences get difficult and yes more meaning centric and long but the good old grammar will help you eliminate some options .anubhav1984 wrote:Congrats for the amazing score! You firstly need to improve your writing skills. Writing in capital letters is supposed to be rude. You need to decide first whether you want to take the CAT or the GMAT. There's no point in enrolling for CAT classes and targeting GMAT. And you do not need a person to help you explore more about the GMAT. What is this site for ?NumB wrote:CONGO !

Congratulations. As you stated, its more important what we learn from practise, rather than cramming ourselves with 1000 SC/RCs. Good Luck with your applications.
congrats Megadeth,
i am on way of giving my GMAT. May i ask which practice test did you give? i mean to ask you that have you given practice test of Kaplan , Manhattan etc.? which one is closer to actual GMAT?
Could you please suggest any good book for maths & CR whcich has higher difficulty level probles?
As for CR i red manhattan, but as you said its not sufficient.
i am done with my OG 12 & 10 th for maths, and need some higher diffculty level problems.
thank you in advance & once again congrats.

swapnil,
I think the MGMAT tests are better than the Kaplan ones. The Quant on MGMAT tests though is not very representative of what you will see on the GMAT but still they are the best tests.
After finishing OG12,OG10 CR questions, I did aristotle cr questionbank. That's a free document containing previous years LSAT questions that are close to the GMAT.
For Maths, I used their DS and PS Boosters. Each had 100 questions and I think the difficulty level is quite balanced there.

Hi Megadeth,
I'll echo everyone else in saying Congrats!
Just one quick question for you. What was your base score of the verbal section, that is your verbal score on your first practice test? Did most of your improvement come from the RC section? (I guess that's two questions.)
Thanks!
Dan

Hey Daniel,
Thank you. I scored a 34 on verbal on my diagnostic test, the test that I took before starting my prep. The biggest improvement came from SC I think and yes from RC too. SC in particular because i didn't know things such as "that/which" ,misplaced modifier before i started my prep. So learning all the rules and practicing questions did help!

What resource do you suggest for practicing RC ?I'm struggling with not only the long ones but the short ones too as some of them are very dense and difficult to understand. Any tips ?

Hi Megadeth, How long did it take for the official score report to arrive after your test? Its been around 10 days since I took my GMAT and I am starting to get worried because I got my test report within a week the first time around...
