Frustrated with the exam

Hi I just wrote my exam and I got 440 I am really disappointed as I took a prep MGMAT course and I felt like I knew the information. But I guess I wasn't ready as I was only getting 530 on my practice exams.

The last time I wrote it I got a horrible verbal mark, I feel like I know my SC but when I get to the exam I feel like everything goes out the window..

Can any provide any advice, resources on even online practice question sites? So I can really achieve my goal of 620. I am getting really frustrated that I don't know where to start again to improve my mark before I go in to re write...

Even if anyone can give a study pattern that has worked to help improve their marks?... or resources it would really help me out.....

One of the things I realized after taking my class (I took a Kaplan class) was that although I understood the question types and was prepared for the format of the exam there was a misunderstanding of the actual content that would be covered. Going forward, I plan to spend some more time understanding the concepts before taking the exam.

Please note: I am by no means an authority. I just took the exam a while back and came to that conclusion.

Keep a positive attitude. You'll get em next time!

I second semi here. Understanding of concepts is key.

Target individual sections and prepare it separately. Then take a lot of GMAT practice tests to combine your concepts.

There are lots of success stories out here. You will get pointers to good sources. With the right prep, you can achieve your targets. Keep faith.

One thing you got to understand is that taking a course is not going to guarantee anything (though they may claim so).

Don't get down on yourself. It's important to keep a positive attitude. If you beat yourself up and expect to do poorly, you will. Look at it as a learning experience. Keep taking practice exams and learn the concepts inside and out. You score will improve if you keep up the hard work.

I totally agree with vineeshp . Target at specific areas , one concept at a time , for more inputs do listen to Ron's video [MGMAT site].

There are lot of inspirational stories for eg eternal_optimist 's debrief , very motivating . You should not at all get frustated with the exam .The fact that you feel like knowing yet when attempting the real question everything seems out of world , that happens with many of us . First of all just relax , dnt put pressure on yourself to perform . Get drenched into various types of question from various sources [official ones , not the internet floating ones], and start enjoying the preparation .

Yes you can very well achieve the goal of 620.Give sometime before you write again .Don't rush in .If you feel bit down , come to forum and get involved in some discussions , that will really give you confidence and inspiration to knock out the GMAT Beast .You can do it .
