dont worry too much dude. First of all be realistic about yr goals. secondly prepare completely. by that i mean dont attempt another exam till u score 700 + on yr gmat prep.

Also pick up Mgmat material, its got great concepts especially their SC. Another great source is this website. Log on everday and try to solve as many problems as you can. Trust me, this website is better than ALL prep course out there.



Do this for four months and watch yrself crack 700.

You probably made mistakes on relatively easy questions and, due to the adaptive nature of the tests, had your scores reduced.

Don't sweat it. Pick yourself up and make the GMAT your soccer ball/football/basketball.

thanks for the encouraging words and advice to the above posts. I truly feel bad about my score going down, but I will not let it bring my motivation to score higher on my next exam. I hired a private tutor from MGMAT. I will post how it is going along my private tutoring studies.

I have been studying the gmat for the past year and half, I have all OG and MGMAT books so I think a private tutor should help improve my score. thank you.

Stay positive Jeff. The fact that you've already scored a 640 once before demonstrates that you're capable of at least scoring 640. With more preparation and a private tutor, I fully believe it's possible for you to score higher than 640 on your third attempt.

It does sound very odd that your 2nd attempt was so much lower than your 1st attempt. This is definitely not the norm. I have read of people scoring 10-30 points below their initial attempt, but never 170 points below. Your tutor should be able to help you pinpoint what caused this dramatic drop.

Hi Jeff,

I experienced the same issue as you did. I score a 580 on my first test and then after six month, I took another one and got a 530. I felt very desperate right now.

How's the tutor you hired from MGMAT so far? Do you think private tutoring helps? I am considering getting a tutor too.

I met with my MGMAT tutor once, so far so good. I will keep you people updated once i take a practice exam.
