720, 50Q/38V

I am just returning from the test center and scored 720 (50/38).
My practice tests were:
1) Manhattan 690,710,690,710,700,780
2) GmatPrep 690, 710, Repeats: 750,760
3) Kaplan 560,580, 610

I only concentrated on SC and never touched RC or CR. My SC improved a lot. Needles to say, I used Manhattan SC guide as my bible and nothing else.

I know that my score is good but still I need some suggestion.

I never scored below 51 in Q, not even in Manhattan Tests and was a bit disappointed by 50 in the real test. Shall I go for a retake. I am targeting a 51/40 split this time.
Want to beat hell out of GMAT.

Congrats dude!! Whether to retake depends on the schools you are planning to apply to.. Personal opinion stick with the score and focus on your apps.

51Q on MGMAT is incredible... Do you have any tips on the specific steps you took to improve Verbal score. I have the MGAT SC book, but my score on SC,CR,RC fluctuates from one test to another.

First of all, congratulations for an amazing score.

Your score is higher than almost every business school's average GMAT score in the world.

We are all taking this test to get into a business school. As a future business person, one of our biggest talent will be time and resource management.

I don't think ANY adcom person will value re-taking GMAT after you scored a great balanced 720.

I personally believe that we sometimes forget why we are taking GMAT test. You have a great score to proceed to the next steps of your application. Good luck with your essays, letter of recommendations and the rest.

I only used OG for all my studies but had bought Manhattan SC book. Along with the book came the access code to its tests and practiced that as well.

The irony is that I never scored less than 51 on Manhattan or GPrep tests but got 50 on the real test. I know this is a very good score but still a sense of failure is there. :lol:
Want to beat hell out of GMAT.

can you please explain how did you find the verbal ? since you did not touch RCs and CRs , does it mean you were already confident in them and you did not have to practice ?

I concentrated a lot in SC and ignored CR and RC. The reason was that I was unable to improve any bit in those while in SC I was able to see improvements.

I got pretty tough RCs or I might have felt tough because I am weak in it. almost all of the questions were global questions.

another thing, I forgot to mention that I concentrated very much in first 10 questions and I think I got all right in both Q and V. I know that there is a lot of debate on this but I have seen that first 10 questions matter,though it won't matter if you perform really badly in rest of the questions.
Want to beat hell out of GMAT.

decided in retaking it but am not sure whether it is a good idea.

What happens if the score goes down?
Will the new score be reported to the schools which already received my reports (on test day)?
Want to beat hell out of GMAT.
