IMO A.

Researchers have announced that the magnetic fields emitted by one manufacturer’s security surveillance system, of which type there are 200,000 worldwide, can interfere with pacemakers and that this interaction can bring on missed or irregular heartbeats, nausea, breathlessness, dizziness, and even fainting.

A. of which type there are 200,000 worldwide, can interfere with pacemakers and that
correct.

B. of which, worldwide, there are 200,000 of that type, and which can interfere with pacemakers, and
And which parallel to what ? which w/o comma when used as pronoun is wrong in GMAT.

C. of which type there are 200,000 worldwide, they can interfere with pacemakers and
they can refer to researchers and fields.

D. 200,000 of which type exist worldwide, interfering with pacemakers, and
can missing.

E. 200,000 of that type existing worldwide and can interfere with pacemakers, and
and can parallel to what ?

To me, None of the options makes sense...

Talking in GMAT terms,

A,B and C are out because of "there are" ...
D is out because of missing verb in the subordinate clause ...(INTERFERING)
E is out because of (AND can interfere)

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here...

Hi Ashwani,

IMO "there are" is not wrong in GMAT. Please see the question#107 of OG-10. The correct option is "E". And that is the only option that contains "there are".

Or there is some specific pattern in the above question under discussion that is not liked by GMAT ?

A because none other option maintains that parallelism..
"announced that... and that this action..." should be there
According to Manhattan SC "that" parallelism should be maintained...
So we can eliminate B,C, D and E.

Choice A

B) of that type, refers singular, when should be plural with magnetic fields

C) of which type there is awkward

D) 200,000 of which type exist awkward

E) 200,000 of that type existing , what type?... security surveillance system or magnetic fields?
