Many Congratulations on a very good score.

Can you please suggest some way to go about Quants preparation?

I am doing MGMAT's Quants books and their corresponding questions from OG.

By the time i finish these quant books i will be through with the OG quant.

what do you say should i search for difficult questions from forums or rely on the quant problems from gmatprep & MGMAT cats?

Your response will be very helpful.
Hello Anirudh,

As I said earlier, during my preparation I mainly focused on verbal. I knew I can handle quant section. I didnt use any Manhattan books or even OG for quant. Mostly I relied on BTG and Prep CATs for quant preparation. I did prepare notes for quant section and referred it again and again. Other than my quant notes, I maintained error log for quant questions and made sure that I dont repeat the same mistake again. I suggest that you dont practice GMATPrep problems unless you have given both full length GMATPrep CATs. The thing is if you practice GMATPrep questions in advance, then your Prep Test scores will be inflated and you will overestimate your scoring ability. In fact I suggest that you stay away from discussions/posts where GMATPrep questions are discussed until you are done with both GMATPrep CATs.

Contact me over email([email protected]) in case you want my quant notes and error log.

Best of luck for your preparation.

Congratulations! From 500+ to 700+ that's very encouraging, especially for those who underestimated GMAT the first time and who struggle to go back and beat it! Thanks for the debrief!

Hi Hardik,
Congratulations on the score. You definitely nailed the GMAT. Ur Simulator works perfect. Thank You.

I have few requests regarding the simulator.
1) Could you please change the font to Tahoma-12
2) Option to select two types of UI
a)
[passage][input choice][question] (as is currently)
b)
[______passage_____]
[input choice][question]

I know it is too much to ask for the change. I will be grateful if you can do it. It will be helpful to everyone in a more effective way.

Please find attachment containing 1000sc document in a format compatible to hardik simulator.

Note: 1 Question = #Passage_Start + content + #Question_End
To do:
1) Copy the Questions you want to test yourself from the document
2) Paste it in one of hardiks text files (after the 3rd line)
2) Execute HardiksGMAT.exe.
3) Include the modified text file when asked to input a file

zaaash,

thanks for modifying 1000SC document.. it is really gonna help the fellow test takers..

regarding modifying the simulator..

I can modify the simulator to change the font.. thats not a big deal.. but I dont see that making big difference in your test experience.. because the font used by GMATPrep is little different from Tahoma.

Regarding your second requirement, well that layout will be problematic for RC questions because you will be forced scroll while reading the passage.. for CR and SC questions, yes, that layout will resemble the GMATPrep layout..

I can provide you the option of choosing the layout at the beginning of the test.. but this will be helpful only if you are practicing only one type of questions, for example, only CR or only RC... if you have prepared input file consisting of multiple type questions, then switching the layout in the middle of the test as it is done in the GMATPrep will require me to change the format of the input file.. I dont want to change the format of the input file because having different tags for different kind of questions may confuse lot of users.. hope you understand my point..

I did think about the two layouts when I started writing the simulator, but my primary goal was to spend as little time as possible in developing the simulator. So I chose not to make a complex simulator.

Send me an email, we can discuss this over email. let's see if we can improve this simulator..

srivicool@: Thank you very much for your kind words.. I believe I received your mail and I have responded to you as well.. Best of luck for your preparation

aizen@: hope you find the simulator useful.. Best of luck

Hi Hardik,
Thanks for the reply. I thought of a way u can change the UI according to the questions as in real time GMAT SC and CR will have the UI-'b' and RC will have U-'a'. Your format is perfect and need not be modified. My logic goes like this.

Given that UI has a table panel same as the following:
[1,1][1,2][1,3]
[2,1][2,2][2,3]

in the function WhenNextButton_Clicked and in the start/load event the following logic is needed

IF #Question_Start TO #Question_End IS NOT EMPTY // for RCs
BEGIN
QuestionTextBox.visible = true

PassageTextBox.row = 1
PassageTextBox.column = 1
PassageTextBox.rowspan = 2
PassageTextBox.columnspan = 1

InputCheckBoxList.row = 1
InputCheckBoxList.column = 2
InputCheckBoxList.rowspan = 2
InputCheckBoxList.columnspan = 1

QuestionTextBox.row = 1
QuestionTextBox.column = 3
QuestionTextBox.rowspan = 2
QuestionTextBox.columnspan = 1
END

ELSE IF #Question_Start TO #Question_End IS EMPTY // for CRs and SCs
BEGIN
QuestionTextBox.visible = false

PassageTextBox.row = 1
PassageTextBox.column = 2
PassageTextBox.rowspan = 2
PassageTextBox.columnspan = 2

InputCheckBoxList.row = 2
InputCheckBoxList.column = 1
InputCheckBoxList.rowspan = 1
InputCheckBoxList.columnspan = 1
END

I hope the logic is thorough :). Again thank you for considering, cheers.
