from 490 to 590 to 610...and not stopping

Hi,
I took the GMAT on Saturday. I have been studying religiously and I was able to raise my quant score from 36 to 47. On the other hand my verbal score went from 36 to 27. I am not sure what went wrong, but something did. Below is a breakdown of my score.

TEST / DATE/SCORE/Q/V

TEST DAY 3/19/09 590 42 29
GMAT PREP 7/4/2009 630 41 36
GMAT PREP 7/11/2009 580 36 33
MGMAT 7/18/2009 620 42 33
GMATPREP 7/25/2009 680 47 37
GMATPREP 8/1/2009 610 42 33
TEST DAY 8/8/2009 610 47 27

When I first started studying, from the verbal section, I was strongest in CR. Weeks before the test, I mastered SC and CR and RC became really difficult for me. I am not sure why, but I was getting 60% of my CR and RC problems right. I continue to get SC right about 90% of the time. I have taken the test 3 times and I know it is frowned upon but I do feel I can break 700 since I mastered the hardest portion of the Verbal section. I will continue to study until I am breaking raw score of 40 on the verbal. Wish me luck....I do not plan on giving up until I score a 670 or above

just wondering what you did to improve your quantitative? did you use a specific resource? did you study at all prior to your first test?
Thanks!

Hi taryn123,
For the quant portion, I stuck with studying Manhattan gmat and I made sure that I understood each problem in the OG. I did not look into any books. I felt understanding each problem is more important that doing many problems. That helped me tremendously. For some reason I keep scoring low on the verbal. I will have to revisit to see what I need to tweak. Hopefully the final test will be taken in the next month.
