Got humped by the GMAT

by Nee-Mania Vidic » Thu Sep 10, 2009 2:56 am
Hi,

I gave my GMAT today and ended up with a paltry 660. 47/34

The only positive i can take away is that this is my highest score in the GMAT(including mocks viz gmatprep,kaplan and the works). and yes this is my first attempt.

GMAT PREP 2009 1-----> 590
GMAT PREP 2009 2-----> 560
GMAT PREP 2000 1-----> 610
GMAT PREP 2000 2-----> 620
Kaplan CAT 1----------> 550
Kaplan CAT 2----------> 560
Manhattan GMAT----------> 590

Anyway I am a BE in computers and have been part of an IT firm for the past 2 and a half years. My acads are just about ok.

So tell me...what are my prospects?

cheers.

Nee-Mania Vidic.. 660 for the first attempt is far better than okay to my experience..

If you can get 2 points extra in quants and 1 points extra in verbal (totalling to 700) you can get almost anywhere..so be optimistic and do what you can..

Dude, that's the best subject line ever.. As for improving, how is your critical reasoning? I found that VERY easy to improve on, and you can probably improve too with an hour or two of private tutoring. Who knows, that could be your 700 right there.

By the way, if you don't know what critical reasoning is, there are three types of problems in the Verbal section: sentence correction, reading comprehension and critical reasoning. I didn't suggest you concentrate on Math because you are already scoring pretty high.
