First of all, I would like to begin by extending a hearty congratulations to all those that are on their way to beating the GMAT/have already done so. I am going to be a junior in college and am considering taking the GMAT before I complete my junior year (approx 7-8 months down the line) I am currently 20 years old and judging from some of the articles featured on this website, I figured why not get the GMAT over with since the scores last approximately 5 years. I was supposed to be interning this summer in one of the Fortune 500 companies but due to paperwork issues given the fact that I am an international student,I will not be interning during this summer given the lack of internship availabilities last minute. Enough of my sob story but I needed genuine advice on how to devise a study plan and was hoping to get some helpful tips from all of you. As of now, I have minimal idea as to what the structure of the test is (since I was not sure which study materials to use from a basic stroll down barnes and nobles)
Here is my breakdown:
I have extremely strong verbal/english comprehension skills
My math skills are TERRIBLE! The mere idea of having to sit down and compute numbers is extremely daunting for me. Even during the SAT's I used to breeze through the english and grammar sections and would begin to sob softly internally as I approached the math section. Time is not an issue for me as I have little/nothing to do this summer and want to set my resume apart from everyone else and get the GMAT out of the way!
I have not taken a practice test yet because I KNOW for a fact, that I will bomb the math section. I am absolutely certain of it and would like to do a little bit of test prep to see which range my scores are in.
So here is my question, what study materials do you recommend I get to prep prior to taking my first practice test and MUST HAVE books+ books/resources that will be great for practice. I gathered from the forums that The Manhattan book? and official guides are an absolute must but I would appreciate a greater insight as to how to prepare myself given my terrible quantitative reasoning skills. I will not stop studying till I do not hit a 750 + I know I have it in me but I want to go in the test center knowing that I will beat the GMAT! Sorry for the long post but I thought it was necessary to list everything out! GOODLUCK to everyone taking the GMAT!
