Hello Everyone
This is my first post at beat the gmat forum.I am really confused right now what I need to do as I have failed for the second time in GMAT.I had put all the efforts that I thought was necessary to acheive 700+ score for GMAT.I rigrously studied for last 4-5 months but results were disappointing. Right now I am confused whether I should go for the third attempt. My confidence is really low.I have really a strong desire to do well in GMAT and I am even willing to put efforts, but I am confused if putting effort will be worth it.
Kindly bear with me as I am going to explain my long experience with GMAT.
Frankly first attemp in Oct 2009 was a casual effort , though I studiied in quantity but not in quality.
I went through OG 12 and Manhattan SC guide.I was little bit over confident about my Quants ability so didnt put much efforts in Quants.
Gave GMAT Prep and Manhattan six CATs,
My score in GMAT Prep1 630
GMAT prep2 660
Manhattan CATS ranged between 600 to 650.
I gave GMAT in OCT and was disappointed to see 620(q46,v31), frankly I didnt expect much because I was not getting good scores in any pracitce CATs,still gave GMAT and then the poor results.
Then took off from studies as my marriage date was closing in.
Started again my GMAT Prep in April 2010, this time I was determined to do well.
I knew I had to put efforts in Quants as well as Verbal.
So purchased all the Manhattan Quant Books, Power Score CR and much more, then worked hard on my weaknesses.I went through Probability,Combinatorics , Sets every thing that was in Mahattan Quant Books.Did Manhattan SC atleast 3 times,Power Score CR 2 times.I was getting 70-80% in verbal after going through all the stuff.
Then gave 1st GMAT Prep1 score 660 (q48,v33) was shocked to see out of 14 questions that were wrong 9 were SC.I then shifted my GMAT date from July to Aug and worked hard on SC .After 3 weeks gave GMAT Prep 2 score 720(Q50,V36).I was relieved that I finally managed to see score above 700.
Then retook Manhattan CATs almost after 9 months.
Manhattan CAT1-650
Manhattan CAT2-700
Manhattach CAT3-650
Manhattan CAT4-700
Manhatttan CAT5-750
Though they were retakes after 9 months but I could only remember one or two questions, so I believed these tests were accurate indicators of my level right now.
GMAT Prep retakes were 740 and 760 (both had repeated questions).
Also gave Princeton Review-710(q49,v40),Knewton 650 (q44,v36) and Veritas (q49,v42)
Then finally gave GMAT and got 650(q49,v31) my verbal perfomance didnt improve at all from the first GMAT.It was really disappointing as I was doing well in CATS.Though one thing I admit after my Quant section I felt I have not done well in Quant and was bit depressed and nervous while taking my Verbal but still didnt expected 31 in Verbal.
Now I am really confused what I need to do.Should I attempt GMAT 3rd time , is it really worth it.Please suggest me what I need to do differently than what I did this time Or is the story over for me?
