Is revising OG worth?

by priyankamishra11 » Mon Sep 22, 2008 5:23 am
Hi,

My Gmat exam is after 2 weeks and I am facing a problem while revising OG specially in CR section. Actually i read at many places to revise the questions that i did wrong but specially in CR and RC i tried to revise them but for all questions i still remeber the answers. So,its difficult to do any reasoning.
So, my question is should i do CR and RC from some other book or is it worth doing them again from OG. BTW i have many other books like arco, some of LSAT and more.

Please let me know if there is any good stratgy that i should follow.

Thanks,
Priyanka

I think it is not important whether you remember the correct answer, but whether you understand why the answer is correct and the other options are wrong. If you have taken the concepts to heart, then you may move on to fresh material that you might have.
Wish you good luck

Prasanna is right - until you can actually explain the below, you're not done studying a problem, even if you know the answer:
- why the right answer is right?
- why the most tempting wrong answers are so tempting?
- why the most tempting wrong answers are actually wrong?
- why someone might think the right answer is wrong?

If you're having trouble articulating these things, try explaining out loud - pretend you're talking to someone. (Or, if you know someone else who's studying for the GMAT, study together and take turns explaining to each other.)

And, of course, you can practice here. You could post a problem, give your thoughts on the above questions, and then ask others for their feedback on your analysis and also their own analysis, which might be different from yours.

You may want to do a mix of old OG questions and new questions from another source - just remember that OG questions are the real thing. Everybody else tries to imitate OG but we're never as good as the real thing.
