450---desperately need advice please

Hi everyone,

I have just wrote my gmat exam yesterday and I was very disappointed in my gmat score of 450. During the practice exam I was able to score Q33-41 and V26-30. However, on the real exam my marks were Q33 and V19. The math section was not too bad, but the verbal was the most disappointing. One reason was the pressure as I had to quickly guess the last few questions, and I didn't seem to have that problem during the practice exam.
I believe that I still need more help with verbal. My goal is to be in the 600 range or at least 550. I believe I can still make the last application dead of August 1st. Do you think that I would be able to boost my mark high enough within two months or should I study enough and try to enroll in MBA next year... Also I live in the niagara falls area, Canada. Just wondering if there are any courses that any can recommend to boost my mark higher to a 600 range. Thank you so much for your time. Talk to you soon.

It sounds like you had a really bad day, resulting in a lower than expected score on both quantitative and verbal (this is assuming that your practice test scores are indicative - in my experience, only the GMATPREP official tests are reliable as any sort of score predictors, and even there we see some anomalies due to an exceptionally good/bad day.

Depending on the extent of your previous prep, two months could be a decent time to prepare and boost your score to the required range - I like that you're keeping a realistic goal in mind. I suggest that you consider an online adaptive course option and study from the comfort of your own home. Thank you so much for your advice. I will definitely give this a try! To be honest, I did have a very bad experience when writing the exam. After the AWA I felt a headache was about to come, and after the quant section, it was very hard to concentrate after that. I never had this experience when I was taking exams in my undergrad or during my GmatPrep. It was just a stressful experience, but a good experience to have in order to be more ready for the next exam.
I will keep you posted with my progress. I feel a need a few days rest before I can get back into the mood. I was very depressed after seeing my score. Thank you again for your assistance.
