Hello there Sumeer,
Thanks for dropping by dude.
so first of all, congrats on that totally awesome GMAT! you have definitely done your job there to make your application as attractive as you can. And with the GMAT alone, I think Top 30 schools are in range for you, and there's no need for you to go lower.

The big question is: are we talking about top 10, Top20 or top 30 schools for you? (all answers are good, although some are better than others ;) ). Here, for the moment it's a bit hard for me to evaluate because I don't have nearly enough information about your work experience, your achievements, your progress, and your leadership. Other detail about your volunteer work and other extra curriculars can also help me understand your situation better.

So feel free to write more!

Best,
Jon

Hi Jon,

I guess I'm late on the reply. I just started collating material for my application. I am giving out more details to help you comment on my chances.

"¢ Project Documentation: Preparation of the document covering major aspects of the next phase of the 3MTPA project.
"¢ Optimizing Operations: Leveraging various cushions available in the plant design through maximum utilization of the facilities under installation and by adding some balancing facilities. Benefits: lower cost and energy consumed for production, lower wastage, lower dependence on imports.

Interdisciplinary Project:

Literary: Editor of the official university magazine Capslock (2011 edition)
Editor of an official monthly newsletter published by my organization.
Event Management: organized the university techfest -volunteer in the first year (2007), head of event in second and third year, co-convenor in the fourth year (2010).
organized some more events such as a 2-day literary fest and a mini marathon.

Major Awards:
Millenium scholarship: covered full cost of attendance for my engineering degree and an opportunity to intern at Tata Steel. Merit based scholarship provided by Tata Steel. I also secured a full time position at the end of the internship.

Let me know your views on the strength of my profile. And please recommend me B-schools that I should target with realistic expectations.

Sumeet,
Awesome! Thanks for the elaborate detail ( and this time it's my turn to apologize for not getting back to you earlier. It's application season, and things are heating up here!)
So the most important things I learned form your elaborations is that 1. You have some good leadership 2. You have some good international experience. Both of these are unique strengths and very very helpful for Bschool applications, so make sure you highlight both! 3. You have a company where you LEAD 20 people!!! Wow!!!! :)

Add that one too.

So I'd say Top 20 should be within range, and you should have some schools from Top 10 in your list too. If you want to send me your thoughts with your short list, I can help you sculpt that list down,

Best,
JF
